Number of Fires in Bali’s Capital of Denpasar Doubles in August  

​The Denpasar Bali Fire Brigade fought 215 fires in the first eight months of 2026, with a record-high number occurring in August.

​The Head of Denpasar’s Fire Brigade (Damkar), I Made Triana, on Friday, 11 September 2026, stated that during August 2026, 51 fires occurred in Bali’s capital, a number that was 54% more than the number of fires experienced in July.

​On a monthly breakdown, Denpasar firefighters responded to the following number of fire alarms:

  • January 26
  • February 19
  • March 23
  • April 16
  • May 21
  • June 26
  • July 33
  • August 51

Based on data compiled by Damkar, 55 fires occurred in empty fields, 15 involved building structures, 12 involved cars and motorcycles, and the remainder were miscellaneous.

​Geographically, 75 fires occurred in West Denpasar, 67 in South Denpasar, 38 in East Denpasar, and 35 in North Denpasar.

​With the “dry season” still in effect in Denpasar, Triana urged the public to stay alert to fire danger and not to burn trash and rubbish, which could spark larger fires.
