NusaBali reports that Bali’s total population surpassed 4.4 million. Bali’s population in 2025 reached 4,404,281, an increase of 29,018 compared to 2024.
Population growth is not evenly distributed across Bali. Denpasar City recorded the highest growth, while Bangli was the only regency experiencing a population decline.
The Head of the Bali Provincial Community Empowerment, Village, Population and Civil Registration Office (PMD Dukcapil), I Made Dwi Dewata, stated that Bali’s population in 2024 was recorded at 4,375,263. Thus, population growth during 2024-2025 reached 0.66 percent.
”This number increased by 29,018 people, or 0.66 percent, compared to 2024,” said Dwi Dewata on Thursday, 03 September 2026.
Compared to 2023, Bali’s population increased by 59,727 people. In 2023, Bali’s population stood at 4,344,554.
Based on gender, males still slightly outnumber females. Males accounted for 2,206,799 people, or 50.11 percent, while females comprised 2,197,482 people, or 49.89 percent.
Of the nine regencies/cities, Buleleng is the most populous, with 832,299 people, or approximately 18.90 percent of Bali’s total population. Next in terms of population is Denpasar City with 680,700 people, followed by Badung with 543,320 people, and Karangasem with 541,618 people.
Although Buleleng has the largest population, Denpasar City had the highest population growth rate. Denpasar’s population increased by 7,430 people, or 1.09 percent, in one year. Badung followed with an increase of 5,581 people, or 1.03 percent.
Conversely, Bangli was the only region to experience a decline. Its population decreased by 1,365 people, from 260,526 in 2024 to 259,161 in 2025, a decrease of approximately 0.53 percent.
Overall, Bali’s population growth remains positive, although the rate is slowing slightly. In the past two years, Bali’s population has increased by almost 60,000, reaching 4.4 million in 2025.
