BeritaBali confirms that direct flights connecting Taipei (TPE) and Bali (DPS) will resume on 01 October 2026, flown by Starlux Airlines.
Plans for the inaugural service were discussed during a meeting between Bali Governor Wayan Koster and the new Director General of the Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) in Surabaya, David Wen-Chiun Lin, at the Governor’s Jaya Sabha Official Residence in Denpasar on Thursday, 03 September 2026.
The meeting served as an introductory visit for David Lin in his new role as Director General of TETO Surabaya. In addition to discussing the status of Taiwanese citizens visiting or residing in Bali, both parties explored opportunities to strengthen relations between Bali and Taiwan.
Tourism was a key sector addressed during the discussion. The reopening of direct Taipei-Bali flights is seen as a move that will offer greater convenience for Taiwanese tourists while creating opportunities to increase visitor numbers.
Bali Governor Wayan Koster welcomed Starlux’s plan to launch the direct Taipei-Denpasar route.
Koster expressed a personal interest in attending the welcoming ceremony for the inaugural flight on 01 October 2026. He believes that establishing direct air connectivity will positively impact the development of Bali’s tourism sector.
Air connectivity is a crucial factor in strengthening access to the international tourist market. With direct flights available, Taiwanese tourists will no longer need to rely on connecting flights to reach Bali.
David Lin is optimistic that the number of Taiwanese tourists visiting Bali will continue to rise. The high level of interest among the Taiwanese public in traveling abroad presents an opportunity for Bali to strengthen its market share of tourists from that country.
The direct Taipei-Bali flight is expected to solidify further Bali’s position as a preferred destination for Taiwanese tourists. “With direct flights from Taiwan to Bali, it is hoped that the number of tourists from Taiwan visiting Bali will continue to rise,” said David.
The reopening of the route also serves as an opportunity to strengthen ties between Bali and Taiwan, particularly through the tourism sector and air connectivity.
