RadarBali and TribunBali report the mysterious apparent suicide of Canadian Aaron James Kennedy (46), found dead in the Villa Kunyit at the El Tulip Springhill Complex in South Kuta, Bali, on Monday, 06 July 2026.

Adding some degree of mystery to the circumstances surrounding Kennedy’s death was the discovery of a firearm near the body found inside the locked villa. Possession of firearms is strictly controlled in Indonesia, with possession of a gun by foreigners forbidden.

The Canadian’s death came to light when Kennedy’s wife, Zenvanya, who was in Jakarta at the time of her husband’s death and was unable to contact her husband by phone, summoned local security personnel by phone at 1:24 pm to check on Aaron in unit #78.
Security staff from the complex were unable to make contact with Aaron despite knocking loudly on the unit’s doors.
Two hours later, Kennedy’s younger brother, Benjamin, sought assistance in opening the locked unit’s door to the room where Aaron’s dead body was later found. Several witnesses said they saw an object resembling a firearm near the man’s body.
A spokesman for the Bali Police, AKBP Rina Isriana Dewi, told TribunBali on Friday, 10 July 2026, that Kennedy is suspected of having committed suicide by shooting himself with the firearm.
AKBP Rina Isriana Dewi revealed that the victim was known to have suffered from severe psychological disorders during his lifetime.
Police were quickly summoned to the scene, where they established and declared an official crime scene, collected evidence, and arranged for the man’s body to be moved for forensic examination.
Available documentation reports police found Kennedy’s body reclined on a sofa with blood having flowed from his nose and mouth onto the sofa and adjacent floor.
