Foreign Tourist Arrivals to Bali Decline in April 2026

Compared to the same month in 2025, foreign tourist arrivals to Bali declined in April 2026. Meanwhile, April arrivals increased significantly compared with March 2026.

As reported by BeritaBali, the Bali Provincial Central Statistics Agency (BPS-Bali) said that 553,328 foreign tourists visited Bali in April 2026, an increase of 17,21% from the previous month, March 2026. However, the April 2026 foreign tourist arrivals decreased 6.41 % compared to April 2025,

The Head of the BPS-Bali, Agus Gede Hendrayana Hermawan, noted that the month-to-month increase in April visits indicates a positive recovery trend for Bali’s tourism sector. However, on an annual cumulative basis, the number of visits remains below the levels achieved from January to April 2025.

According to Agus, the increase in visitors in April 2026 was driven by more tourists entering through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. Arrivals by air increased by 18.85 percent compared to the previous month.

Conversely, sea-based tourist visits experienced a sharp decline. Arrivals through Benoa Port, Padang Bai, and Celukan Bawang decreased by 94.61 percent compared to March 2026.

Cumulatively, the number of foreign tourist visits to Bali from January to April 2026 reached 2,019,892. This figure is still 1.11 percent lower than for the same period in 2025.

Australia remains Bali’s main tourism source market, with 146,414 Australian visitors in April 2026. Next in line are India with 46,513 visitors, China with 44,447 visitors, the United Kingdom with 24,248 visitors, and the United States with 23,986 visitors.

”Tourists from Australia still dominate visits to Bali. Furthermore, the Indian and Chinese markets also showed quite good growth compared to the previous month,” said Agus.

BPS-Bali also recorded the highest monthly surge in visitors from the Middle East, which grew by 110.81 percent, followed by Africa at 97.37 percent.

Hotel Occupancy

The increase in tourist visitors in April also impacted the accommodation sector. The Room Occupancy Rate of star-rated hotels in Bali reached 57.94 percent, a 5.40-point increase compared to March 2026. Meanwhile, non-star-rated hotels recorded an average occupancy of 34.81 percent, up 1.49 percentage points.

Badung Regency still has the highest hotel occupancy rate in Bali, reaching 57.95 percent. The lowest occupancy rate was recorded in Bangli Regency at 22.42 percent.

The average length of stay (LOS) for guests at star-rated hotels reached 2.87 nights. International tourists recorded longer stays, averaging 3,114 nights, while domestic tourists averaged 2,418 nights.

Agus assessed that the April 2026 figures were a positive sign for Bali’s tourism industry, following fluctuations at the beginning of the year. Measured cumulatively, there was a slight contraction compared to last year; the increase in monthly visits and improving hotel occupancy rates indicate that Bali’s tourism activity continues to trend positively.

”The increase in tourist visits in April was accompanied by an increase in hotel room occupancy rates, particularly in star-rated hotels and key tourism areas such as Badung Regency,” he said.
