Australian’s Death After Beating at Kuta Bar Subject of Intense Investigation.

RadarBali reporting is unraveling the mystery surrounding the death of British national Paul Innes Dougan on 20 August 2026. Dougan is a British National who lived in Australia for several decades.

​The Denpasar Police are now investigating group violence experienced at One Tribe One Life Lounge & Cafe, Legian, before he died in a Bali Hospital after nearly two weeks of medical treatment.

​The police investigation has narrowed to four of the five Australian nationals suspected of involvement in the incident. Police say the five men who brutalized Dougan left Indonesia the day after the alleged assault occurred.

​The four Australians have been identified as Robert Gregory Gage, Paul Anthony Murphy, Jamie Robert Murphy, and Thomas Ryan Zonneveld.

​A police report states: “Based on immigration border crossing data, they departed Bali via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on the night of Thursday, 06 August on Jetstar flight JQ050 bound for Avalon, Victoria, Australia (Melbourne).”

​The tragic fatality traces back to the alleged assault on Paul Dougan at the One Tribe One Life Lounge and Cafe in Legian. Kuta on Wednesday. 05 August 2026 at 02:00 am. Following the incident, the victim returned to his accommodation at the Gora Beach Inn.

​A few days later, Paul’s bearing injuries inflicted in the beating saw his condition deteriorate, requiring further medical attention. On 08 August 8 2026, Dougan was transferred to the Murni Teguh Hospital for medical treatment. A day later, at the request of the man’s son, he was transferred to the BIMC Hospital.

​After undergoing intensive treatment for some 11 days, Dougan died as a result of his injuries. BIMC Hospital confirmed the death of the Australian on Thursday, 20 August 2026 at 12:05 pm. The body was then sent to the Dharma Yadnya General Hospital for final disposition.

His family immediately reported Paul’s death to the Kuta Sector Police Precinct on the same day. The report was registered under Report Number LP/B/91/VIII/2026/Polsek Kuta, dated 20 August 2026.

​Denpasar City Police Chief Senior Commissioner Leonardo D. Simatupang stated that an investigation was commenced immediately. Statements have now been taken from several witnesses, and the police have investigated the scene of the alleged attack. Interviews conducted by the police include the victim’s family, security personnel, workers at the scene, and other parties believed to know about the incident.

​CCTV footage and videos from the early hours of 05 August 2026 from One Tribe One Life Lounge & Cafe are also being examined by the police. Segments of the footage are currently being analyzed to gain a complete picture of what occurred on 05 August. ​

“Based on the preliminary investigation, police have found indications of a joint assault against the victim involving several foreign nationals,” he stated on Monday, 24 June 2026.

​The police are proceeding with caution. Medical records from the Murni Teguh Hospital and BIMC Hospital are being scrutinized. Investigators have yet to conclude that the alleged assault was the direct cause of Paul Dougan’s death.

​The current whereabouts of the Australian men listed as suspected perpetrators of the assault who left Indonesia the day after the incident are also a focus for investigators.

​They will also be investigated as parties connected to the case and may eventually be designated as Subjects of Interest (SOI) in accordance with applicable regulations.

​CCTV footage, witness statements, medical records, and forensic examinations are now serving as crucial pieces of the puzzle in unraveling the mystery surrounding Paul Innes Dougan’s death.

​”We are still working to verify, one by one, the facts behind the incident that occurred in the early hours of August 5th,” asserted  Senior Police Commissioner Leonardo D. Simatupang.
