DetikBali reports that Tyeisha Kieonne Parks (38) was sentenced to one year in prison for the possession and use of 36.71 grams of marijuana in Bali. The US national was found guilty under Article 127, paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 of the Indonesian Narcotics Law.
“The defendant, Tyeisha Kieonne Parks, is sentenced to one year in prison, minus time already served in detention,” stated presiding judge RR Diah Poernomojekti at the Denpasar District Court on Tuesday, 22 September 2026.
In addition to the prison sentence, the panel of judges ordered the American to undergo medical and social rehabilitation for a period of six months. This rehabilitation period forms a part of the total sentence imposed by the Court.
“We order the defendant to undergo rehabilitation at the Anargya Reka Sanbali Foundation in Denpasar for six months, to be credited against the sentence imposed on the defendant,” the presiding judge added.
After the verdict was read, Tyeisha and her legal counsel stated that they accepted the sentence and would not appeal the Court’s verdict. Meanwhile, the public prosecutor, who had previously sought a sentence of one year and six months, also told the Court that State Prosecutors would accept the verdict handed down by the panel of judges.
The case began when Tyeisha arrived in Bali on vacation on 21 April 2026. She entered through the international arrival terminal of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport accompanied by her partner, Joshua Anania Murphy.
While filling out the Customs Declaration form, the defendant—assisted by her partner—did not declare the narcotics she was carrying. Customs officers became suspicious after an X-ray scan of her suitcase revealed suspicious items. Officers then found a clear plastic bottle commercially labeled “Peach Crescendo” containing a clump of greenish-brown dried plant matter with a net weight of 13.88 grams inside Tyeisha’s suitcase. Investigators also found a similar substance in a separate clear plastic bag, weighing a net 22.83 grams.
“Forensic test results indicated that both items tested positive for Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)—or marijuana—with a combined net weight of 36.71 grams,” the prosecutor stated.
In addition to the marijuana, officers seized several other pieces of evidence from the foreign woman, including a multicolored metal grinder, five packs of “Da Boss Leaf” rolling papers, a Korean Air Boarding Pass in the defendant’s name, and a printed copy of the electronic Customs Declaration.
