RadarBali reports that a US national from Ohio, Tyeisha Kieonne Parks, was arrested at Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport International Terminal on 21 April at 11:00 pm and arraigned before the Denpasar, Bali Court pm on 30 June 2025, charged with attempting to smuggle into Indonesia 36.71 grams of Delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol – a main compound found in marijuana
The 38-year-old woman has freely admitted carrying the drug while entering Bali on holiday. She told police and prosecutors that she uses marijuana to alleviate anxiety caused by a back injury suffered in 2021.

Indonesian law does not permit the personal use of marijuana for medicinal purposes. Marijuana is classified as a Class I Narcotic, including the plant’s derivatives such as Delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol.
Parks has been charged by Bali prosecutor under Article 610 and Article 111 of Indonesia’s strict 2023 Narcotics Law, punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
The woman arrived in Bali in the company of her partner, Joshua Anania Murphy, and has been held by police for more than two months since 21 April.
Shortly after disembarking her arrival flight, Parks’ luggage underwent X-ray examination, which led Customs Officials to discover the quantity of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is widely used as a recreational drug or prescribed medically to manage stress, improve mood, and reduce muscle pain.
When Bali Customs Officials inspected the woman’s suitcase, they found a plastic bottle labeled “Peach Crecendo” containing a clump of dried, greenish-brown plant material. The weight was 13.88 grams net. Officers also found a plastic bag containing a clump of dried, greenish-brown plant material weighing 22.83 grams net. Both packets were tested and found to be THC.

The woman was then placed under arrest by the Bali Regional Police Narcotics Directorate.
Tyeisha Kieonne Parks has established a GoFundMe Page, publicized on Facebook, to raise funds for her legal defense in Bali. To date, more than US$30,000 has been raised
