Compared with 2025, tourist arrivals remain relatively stable. There are no significant fluctuations,\u201d said Sumarajaya on Friday, 28 August 2026,<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bBased on data compiled by the <em>Bali Provincial Tourism Authority<\/em>, total foreign and domestic arrivals January through July 2026 have actually declined 1,4%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bDomestic tourist arrivals for January through July 2026 have increased 1,3% when compared to the same period in 2025.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/january-through-july-2026-tourist-arrivals-to-bali-reach-983-million-6224a8b.jpg\" alt=\"January Through July 2026 Tourist Arrivals to Bali Reach 9.83 Million\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bOn a cumulative basis, foreign and domestic tourist arrivals for January through July 2026 have remained stable, increasing by a relatively meager 0.2% compared to the first seven months of 2025,<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bIn terms of foreign tourist arrivals, Australian tourists remain the largest source of international visitors to Bali. From January to July 2026, a total of 982,403 Australians visited Bali, representing a market share of 23.10%,<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bIn declining order, after the 982,403 Australian tourist visitors for the January to July period, Bali welcomed:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>346,284 Chinese (PRC)<\/li>\n<li>318,948 Indians<\/li>\n<li>170,814 UK Nationals<\/li>\n<li>164,846 South Koreans<\/li>\n<li>163,132 USA<\/li>\n<li>141,237 French<\/li>\n<li>129,672 Russians<\/li>\n<li>115,708 Malaysians<\/li>\n<li>110,429 Japanese.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This represents a dramatic reordering of dominance in tourist arrivals, with Japanese arrivals now ranked at #10, while in the past the Japanese were the #1 source of Island visitors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bTo supplement tourism arrivals and support the Island\u2019s international identity, the <em>Bali Provincial Tourism A<\/em>uthority is now pursuing the concept of <em>\u201cspot tourism\u201d<\/em> to divert attention to secondary destinations across the Island. Among the destinations to be promoted following the <em>\u201cspot tourism\u201d<\/em> concept are: Jatiluwih rice terraces, Batur volcano, Bukit Bentik in Kintamani, and Nusa Dua. Promotions for \u201cSpot Tourism\u201d locales will be supported through special events to attract visitors to these areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200b\u201cHopefully, we can persuade entrepreneurs and others to host events to attract tourism visitors to these areas,\u201d said Sumarajaya,<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bWhile promoting special events in strategic tourism spots, the Provincial Government of Bali will continue to communicate to all international source markets that Bali remains a safe and enjoyable tourism destination. Tourism officials contend that communicating Bali&#8217;s overall safety and comfort is especially important given the global economic situation and the rising cost of air travel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bSpeaking on the same occasion, Sumarajaya also noted that revenue generated from the <em>Foreign Tourist Tax (PWA)<\/em> through 27 August 2026 totals Rp 255 billion. The number of <em>PWA collections<\/em> continues to increase, and the Provincial Government remains optimistic that the number of foreign tourists paying their <em>PWA obligations<\/em> will rise from the current compliance level of 43%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bPlans to increase <em>PWA payment<\/em> compliance include closer cooperation with international airlines serving Bali, which have agreed to communicate the existence of the PWA and the necessity to comply.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bWith 3.92 million foreign tourists visiting Bali from January through July 2026, Bali remains confident it can achieve its target of 7 million international visitors for the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bAs Bali\u2019s top tourism official, Sumarajaya confirmed that the Province will continue to pursue a variety of strategies, including strengthening destination branding, event coordination, and communicating that the Island remains a
