{"id":639,"date":"2026-08-09T10:33:57","date_gmt":"2026-08-09T10:33:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wlbrs-catalog.ru\/?p=639"},"modified":"2026-08-09T10:33:57","modified_gmt":"2026-08-09T10:33:59","slug":"high-malaysian-airline-pilot-caught-smuggling-narcotics-at-jakarta-airport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wlbrs-catalog.ru\/?p=639","title":{"rendered":"\u201cHigh\u201d Malaysian Airline Pilot Caught Smuggling Narcotics at Jakarta Airport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/high-malaysian-airline-pilot-caught-smuggling-narcotics-at-jakarta-airport-dc45a00.jpg\" alt=\"&ldquo;High&rdquo; Malaysian Airline Pilot Caught Smuggling Narcotics at Jakarta Airport\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bAs reported by <em>Kompas,<\/em> Malaysian government authorities have now commented on the arrest of a 39-year-old Malaysian pilot employed by <em>Malaysian Airlines<\/em> who is suspected of smuggling around 25 kilograms of ecstasy-type narcotics through <em>Soekarno-Hatta International Airport,<\/em> Tangerang, Banten, on 28 July 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u200bThe Malaysian Civil Aviation Authority (CAAM) <\/em>stated that it was investigating the case from a regulatory perspective, including the possibility of gaps in inspection procedures before the 39-year-old pilot departed Malaysia bound for Indonesia. <em>CAAM <\/em>said it was gathering facts regarding the case involving the pilot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200b&#8221;This incident will be investigated from a regulatory perspective, including the airline&#8217;s compliance with established regulatory requirements and the airport operator&#8217;s security processes, to determine whether there were any weaknesses before the pilot departed from Malaysia,&#8221; <em>CAAM<\/em> told the <em>Malaysian News Agency Bernama<\/em> on Friday 31 July 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bThe Malaysian authorities are investigating following the arrest of the Malaysian pilot on 29 July 2026, at <em>Soekarno-Hatta International Airport<\/em> outside Jakarta. As a first step, <em>CAAM<\/em> stated that it would increase monitoring of the implementation of regulatory requirements relating to baggage inspection and security procedures, including provisions that apply to flight crew.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bIndonesian law enforcement officers arrested a 39-year-old <em>Malaysian Airlines <\/em>pilot who was suspected of carrying around 25 kilograms of ecstasy pills and a small amount of methamphetamine. The pilot was arrested after arriving in Jakarta from Kuala Lumpur.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bCustoms officers found suspicious images in the pilot\u2019s baggage during an inspection using X-ray scanning equipment. Subsequent examination found 14 packages containing around 70,114 ecstasy pills with a total weight of around 25 kilograms and 2.7 grams of methamphetamine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/high-malaysian-airline-pilot-caught-smuggling-narcotics-at-jakarta-airport-7f26a0e.jpg\" alt=\"&ldquo;High&rdquo; Malaysian Airline Pilot Caught Smuggling Narcotics at Jakarta Airport\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/high-malaysian-airline-pilot-caught-smuggling-narcotics-at-jakarta-airport-87710f2.jpg\" alt=\"&ldquo;High&rdquo; Malaysian Airline Pilot Caught Smuggling Narcotics at Jakarta Airport\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bThe suspect, a pilot who had just landed a commercial aircraft in Jakarta, underwent urinalysis that showed positive results for methamphetamine, ecstasy, and cocaine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bAccording to investigators, the suspect admitted to acting as a drug courier and had been promised a payment of around 50,000 Malaysian ringgit to bring the goods to Jakarta to be handed to a drug syndicate member. Indonesian authorities suspect that the pilot is part of an international drug trafficking network. Investigations are still being carried out to uncover other syndicate members and parties suspected of being recipients of the drugs in Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bIn addition to the <em>CAAM<\/em>, the <em>Malaysian Embassy<\/em> in Jakarta also responded to the arrest. <em>The Malaysian Embassy<\/em> stated that it was trying to obtain consular access to the pilot, a Malaysian citizen detained in Indonesia on suspicion of narcotics crimes. In its statement, <em>the Malaysian Embassy <\/em>said it had received official notification from the<em> Narcotics Crime Directorate, Bareskrim Polri,<\/em> regarding the arrest of the Malaysian citizen at <em>Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200b&#8221;The Embassy respects the Indonesian legal process and is seeking consular access for the Malaysian citizen,&#8221;
