TRIBUN-BALI reports that 22 unclaimed bodies were the objects if a simple funereal ceremony and mass cremation at the Dharma Kerthi Crematorium<\/em>, situated at Pura Dalem Kerobokan<\/em>, Kerobokan Village, Bali, on Tuesday, 17 October 2026.<\/p>\n

The cremation was carried out as a collaborative effort between Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital (RSUP)<\/em> and the Bali Provincial Social Affairs Agency.<\/em><\/p>\n

The cremations were carried out over two days: Tuesday, 27 October 2026, and Wednesday, 28 October 2026.<\/p>\n

\"Bodies<\/p>\n

Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital<\/em> Morgue <\/p>\n

The President Director of Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital,<\/em> Dr. I Gusti Ngurah Ketut Sukadarma, S.Kp., M.Kes., explained that all the deceased had previously received medical care or been housed at the hospital\u2019s morgue.<\/p>\n

“We are conducting a farewell ceremony for these unclaimed bodies before they are cremated at the Dharma Kerthi Foundation in Kerobokan Village. The process is taking place in two stages over two days covering a total of 22 bodies,”Sukadarma said.<\/p>\n

The Body Count <\/strong><\/p>\n

The final disposition of the 22 dead bodies was performed for 7 foreign nationals and included 9 Infants<\/p>\n

All of the bodies had once been under the care of Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital<\/em> for a significant period during the years 2023 until 2026.<\/p>\n

“This group includes 7 foreign nationals, 9 infants, with the remaining number consisting of unclaimed local bodies.<\/p>\n

Care and Storage Costs Reach Rp 4 Billion<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the care and storage of the remains of the 22 deceased bodies, Prof. Ngoerah Hospital<\/em> incurred substantial costs. <\/p>\n

Ketut Sukadarma revealed that the total outstanding unpaid charges related to the 22 bodies amounted to approximately Rp 4 billion.<\/p>\n

These costs encompass both the medical care provided while the individuals were still alive and the expenses for storing the bodies in the hospital morgue.<\/p>\n

“For these 22 bodies\u2014from the time they were admitted, through their medical treatment, and up to the present\u2014the total charges incurred by the hospital reached approximately Rp 4 billion for the period between 2023 until 2026,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the cremation costs for the 22 bodies, totaling Rp 170 million (Rp. 7,7 million per body) was paid by the Bali Province Social Affairs, Women’s Empowerment, and Child Protection Agency (Dinas Sosial P3A).<\/p>\n
