Kompas<\/em> reports that the Provincial Government of Bali<\/em> has called upon all Regents and Mayors to establish task forces to monitor and oversee the distribution of subsidized fuel at gas stations (SPBU<\/em>).<\/p>\n \u200bThe requirement was set out in a letter from the Bali Regional Secretary,<\/em> dated 16 October 2026, Number B.21.500.1\/16672\/V\/Disnaker.Esdm.<\/em><\/p>\n \u200bKompas<\/em> received confirmation of the letter from the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau of the Bali Provincial Secretariat<\/em> on Friday evening, 16 October 2026. The letter calls for the formation of task forces including representatives from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI),<\/em> the Indonesian National Police (POLRI)<\/em>, the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP),<\/em> the Transportation Agency, HISWANA MIGAS<\/em> – the Association of Oil and Gas Entrepreneurs,<\/em> and PT Pertamina Patra Niaga<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u200b”The task forces will be responsible for monitoring and supervising the distribution of subsidized fuel to ensure it reaches the intended recipients, in the correct volumes, and is used for its proper purpose,” stated Provincial Secretary<\/em> Dewa Indra in the letter sent on Friday.<\/p>\n \u200bIn addition to overseeing distribution, the task forces are also tasked with investigating suspected manipulation of subsidized fuel. Suspected violations include modifying vehicle fuel tanks to increase capacity, using illegal license plates, and other methods used to obtain subsidized fuel in violation of established regulations.<\/p>\n \u200bThe Bali Provincial Administration<\/em> has also instructed the proposed task forces to enforce fuel quota restrictions strictly, based on vehicle criteria, particularly when long queues occur at gas stations.<\/p>\n \u200bPertamina<\/em> reaffirms that it has not reduced fuel quotas. Future fuel purchases may be limited based on the volume consumed\u2014specifically, to a minimum of 70 percent of the previous fill-up. Verification will use data from the most recent purchase, with the vehicle’s odometer reading recorded according to its vehicle type.<\/p>\n \u200bOversight aims to prevent vehicles that have already reached their maximum daily quota from repeatedly joining the queue. This act would only worsen congestion and the prospect of long queues at Bali gas stations (SPBUs)<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u200bThe Bali Provincial Government<\/em> has also reminded the public that sanctions apply to both gas station operators and vehicle owners found to be in repeated violation of the regulations. “Administrative sanctions\u2014ranging from reprimands and formal warning letters to the revocation of operating licenses\u2014may be imposed.
